The career advice I would give my 18-year-old self is:Failure is a good thing; don't fear it. Continue forward, and utilize what you learn from each experience. Trust your instincts. Treasure the relationships you build throughout your career; they will sustain you through much - personal and professional.
When I think about my career, I'm most excited about:As crazy as this may sound, I am excited about the unknown — the uncharted path ahead. With a big career shift recently, it created space for the opportunity to follow my passion and find what will give me the most fulfillment. It is simultaneously terrifying and wonderful.
Daily, I read:Daily affirmations or quotes, the same ones, to help keep me focused. The quotes and affirmations may change depending on current challenges, but a daily reminder to keep focused on the positive and to be grateful. I also really enjoy finding at least one industry article to read. It is amazing how diverse the optical industry is and to witness its constant evolution.
My theme song is:A song that hits every time is Stronger by Kelly Clarkson. More recently, Me by Kelly Clarkson (deep cut) really hits. Generally, I love a wide variety of music to help motivate me, to relax, to dance around and burn energy.
I recommend:Stay true to yourself, understand and hold true to your boundaries, and lead with kindness. All of this will help you keep a healthy balance between personal and work life. Life is for the living; do not put any part of it off until the time is "right".
