Each year the OWA presents the Pleiades Award to an individual that exemplifies a passion for promoting the leadership role of women in the optical industry. The recipient of the OWA's most prestigious award will be honored at the OWA Champagne Breakfast and Star Awards Ceremony in Orlando during Vision Expo East.
In both their daily life and profession, the honoree of the Pleiades Award exemplifies the core principles of the OWA, including:
The award is named after the star cluster "The Pleiades" and refers to the seven brightest stars in the Taurus constellation. Just as these stars create the brightest clusters in the sky, the members of the OWA have created an organization that shines brighter when individual efforts are combined into collective energy.
Nominate individuals you know who are deserving of the OWA's distinctive Pleiades Award. Please note: Current members of the board or former members who've served in the last two years are not eligible for this award. The Nominating committee will meet in mid-December to consider all nominations that will be presented to the OWA board.
