My friends call me: Nicole, Nikitty, Nic
I am the: Internal Communications Specialist at Visionworks
I joined the OWA in:2022
Words my colleagues use to describe me are:Energetic, Enthusiastic, Extroverted
The career advice I would give my 18-year-old self is:I would say, " Don't try to fit in the mold of what you think you should do or be. There are multiple paths to get where you want to go, but as long as you stay true to you and keep moving forward, you will get there. "
When I think about my career, I'm most excited about:All the opportunities! In communications, my job is constantly changing and adapting. I get to work on various projects from day to day operations, to full-scale recognition projects. As the chair of our Women in Leadership business resource group, I get to help empower and inspire the women around me, as well as shine a light on what matters to people in my organization. I get to make new connections constantly and learn about every aspect of the business.
Daily, I read:Everything! I listen to audiobooks while walking my dog or taking care of my horses, and I read something fun every night before bed. All genres and types, but I love psychological thrillers and books that make me think. Currently, I am reading the 6 types of Working Genius by Patrick M. Lencioni for business and Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt for personal.
My theme song is:Born to Fly by Sara Evans
I recommend:Spend some time doing something for you every day. My horses keep me grounded and provide a space to decompress after work, but it can be as simple as a journal entry, a bubble bath, a walk outside, or a few minutes to just think.
