Too many women I know have cancer. Among them are an artist, a business owner, a librarian, a photographer, and a teacher. They were all once girl bosses just like us. These brave, strong women spent most of their professional lives taking care of everyone else's needs before their own. Sound familiar?
As women, too many of us neglect our own health and wellness. We skip workouts when conference calls go too long. We cancel our own medical appointments when the only open time slot in our week is needed by our kids' orthodontist. We're shocked when the dentist tells us how long it's been since our last cleaning. And we've all reached for that bag of chips when running through the airport.
The fact is that unless we're healthy, we can't operate at our best and be there for those who rely on us. Our co-workers, employees, bosses, customers, spouses, children, parents, friends, and neighbors, all count on our healthiest selves.
So, let's commit to one another today to take care of ourselves so that we may continue to take care of those around us.
Let's eat well, drink water, make time for exercise, and get enough sleep.
Let's make that mammogram appointment. And keep it!
Let's do what brings us joy and be mindful of what's most important.
Let's celebrate the cancer survivors among us.
And let's support one another in pursuit of continued health and success.
