My friends call me: Joyce Kurtulus
I am the: Principal at Visionary Insights
I joined the OWA in:2020
Words my colleagues use to describe me are:Supportive, reliable, enjoys life, always busy with a new project
The career advice I would give my 18-year-old self is:Learn something new every day and have fun doing it.
When I think about my career, I'm most excited about:The opportunities that have come my way and how they have positively influenced my career path. I'm also thrilled by the talented young women I've had the privilege to hire, train and mentor throughout their journeys.
Daily, I read:TONS of email, Washington Post, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikToks and other reads my daughter sends me.
My theme song is:Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I grew up in a small town in Florida and dreamed of moving to NYC and working in fashion — a big dream for a small-town girl. This song was my inspiration to think big, be free, and make it happen. And I did!
I recommend:As you go through life's journey, always remember to manage your work-life balance. Some of life's special moments happen only once.
Trust your gut, find your people and build your network. Seek mentors. and be willing to be a mentor to others. Learn from your mistakes; it means you are on the right path. Lastly, lift up others. We all may need a hand one day. It's often that one person who made a small effort that has a lasting effect on you.
